Cheddar Screenshots
Let's see what we've got here, hmm?
It is good to know how things look before you subject yourself to them. These screenshots come from Cheddar 1.3.x on Windows XP SP2, with Internet Explorer 6. After various Windows patches, the status modes for the search field display the number of items in the directory instead of the sizes. (Less useful.) This is an old version of Cheddar—current binaries have hardcoded Sandwich/British Library resources instead of Infini8 ones (comparative page.)
File browser in action. The directory name and icon show various pieces of information in their tooltips and when clicked. This is the normal view for Cheddar. The six buttons by the Spotlight-style search box set different modes.
Image browser in action. The text disappears after a little while. The mousewheel moves through various images. The additional image buttons (+, -, 100, A) each have hotkeys assigned to them.
Preferences window. Not shown: customisable paths for My Computer, Control Panel, Home Directory, and the icon to use when in My Computer.
Submenus in sidebar, complete with translucency.
Text editor. Not shown: the 'save file' button, which appears when the text has been modified, normally found inside the double-spacer on the toolbar.
Text editor with search-and-replace. Find is accomplished directly through the search box on the window itself.
