Diagrams and Virtual Hardware

Documenting the history and development of the console UI in Telerin.

Diagrams

The original Telperion 780/11 console from mid 2005. Terminal functions are in the two rows beside "FERNEI," process functions are in the two rows beside "CIRIAI."

A shot from the final version of Telerin to include the Telperion console by default.

The new 16-bit 791/11 console. The console has changed little since this version.

The Telnet multiplexer, 413/11 Skynet 2. The outgoing communications can be used for listening or dialing purposes. Both an in-Telerin telnet client and a web server were, in fact, written.

A MovableType 2 terminal in its default state. The line at the bottom is called 'Volvox' and can be set by running programs like a status bar. The small rectangle clarifies the contents of the input buffer, which may not be displayed correctly on the screen if a program generates output while the user is typing, or backspaces too far. Each 605/11 terminal was tied to a socket through Skynet, except for terminal 0, which had to be connected to through an older facility, NCMU (411/11).

The Elachrome Video Display, 690/11. Extremely slow, though I once planned on trying to write a windowing system that could address it.
